This was an interesting show, considering the only band on the bill that I had photographed before was Miss May I. Shooting a band for the first time can always be a little nerve wracking because you're unsure of what to expect and, if you're only shooting the first three songs which is the case with most shows, you have to adapt quickly and figure out what works and what doesn't while still getting good shots.
I was having some difficulties with my camera and external flash during Erra and Fit For A King's set, hence the small amount of photos that I actually kept, but by the time Northlane went on, I was pretty comfortable with where I was. Miss May I was an interesting one to shoot, because just about every time I've photographed them, they've had a huge, gorgeous lighting setup that makes shooting them really easy and makes the photos look gorgeous. That wasn't the case with this show, since they weren't headlining, so I had to work with the (sometimes not so great) house lights. I'm still really happy with my photos of them, though! August Burns Red was a lot of fun to shoot, too. A little unpredictable because I've never seen them live before and never photographed them, but I walked away with a bunch of photos I love!
