Four shows really isn’t a whole lot (and I was supposed to shoot a 5th if I hadn’t gotten sick this month) but this was definitely one of the busiest Januarys I’ve had in a few years.Read More
I kind of took it easy this summer, but in September, I finally started getting back in the swing of things.Read More
March feels like it was about a year long. I was so damn busy this month, it makes me stressed to even think about it again, but I also got to shoot a lot of really fun shows, as well!Read More
I've been ridiculously busy lately, so I haven't gotten the chance to update my blog with the most recent sets of band promos I've taken over the past few months. BUT, now that I have a day off to relax, I figured I would share some of my favorite shots from my most recent shoots with Skyburial and innerspace.
Both of these shoots were for the cover features of The Prelude Press, and I happened to shoot both of them with my D5000, rather than my D700 (which I usually use) because it was still in the shop. Before each of these shoots, I was a little bummed that I wasn't shooting with my usual gear and nervous that I wouldn't get any photos I'd like, but I guess this is proof that it doesn't matter what gear you're using - it's the photographer that matters. (That may sound a little conceited, but I don't care - I'm really genuinely happy with these shots!)
For the innerspace shoot, we shot a little around a lake and then hiked up Chautauqua park in Boulder. Lugging all of my lighting gear up the trail sucked, but I'm in love with these photos.
My shoot with Skyburial was a little more interesting. We tried to shoot outside in the snow, but the battery pack for my flash malfunctioned. We tried to shoot inside the house, but the ceilings were too low and I accidentally broke the modeling light on my flash. We went to shoot in the band's practice studio, but it was being used. Finally, we ended up in an unfinished basement, which was (thankfully) the perfect setting for the shoot. Again, I was worried about how these photos would turn out, but I love them!
